This term, the students of Year 6 have thoroughly enjoyed learning about World War II. Year 6 dressed as the young evacuees of World War II who were sent out of Britain's major cities to the countryside. The children wore costumes reminiscent of the 1940s, and they carried gas masks, had ID cards and some had teddy bears and suitcases! The children displayed their costumes during a mini-fashion show.
The children also made air raid shelters, which were creatively made with household goods like cardboard, spaghetti, clay, bottles, clay, sand, coconut and real plants and grass.
The students also visited the Commonwealth War Graves in Jawatte and reflected on the many lives that were lost during the war.
