I must pay a very special tribute to our outstanding cast and crew for last week’s fantastic production of ‘Anything Goes’. Having the pleasure to watch all three performances, I think all of us would agree that it simply was not a ‘school production’. Rather, we were treated to three evenings of performance, dance and song that was akin to any professional theatrical experience and I must thank Mr Shane and Ms Shamistha for their determination and skill at getting this difficult script and score to the stage and for nurturing such accomplishment and skill in each and every performer. I would also like to thank the parent team who supported us with sponsorship, ticket sales and countless other ways through the months of preparation and the performance evenings. Thank you all!
The week began on a musical note. Not only were students and staff all still humming snippets from the various songs from ‘Anything Goes’, but we were treated to a special Modern Languages Assembly to usher in our annual Languages Week. History was made once again as the first choral presentation of a Mandarin song was performed by our Mandarin students. This was followed by a rousing French Duet led by Anjuni and Amiya that manages to get the whole audience singing along! A wonderful start to the week! I thank Ms Christine, Ms Candi, the Languages Department and our performers for a memorable start to the week.
On Wednesday afternoon our tireless Sports Department hosted the British School’s second annual Swimming Carnival. BSC welcomed swimmers from four other schools: AIS; CIS; Elizabeth Moir School and OSC for a relay events. It is wonderful to see the BSC PE and Sports Department promoting innovative ways for our sportsmen and women to enjoy competition is an ever-increasing range of ‘friendly’ fixtures. My thanks and to Mr Mark and his team as well as to our swimmers and Prefects for being wonderful hosts.
