The month of December was a tremendously busy month for us Interactors!

We had a stall at the Christmas Carnival on the 9th of December, 2017, at which we raised 16,980 rupees. We raised money at the Christmas carnival by having a soda pong, a ducky dip, and a PS4 station where students were allowed to bet on each other. We are proud to say that the project was both fun and a success.

On the 16th of December, the Saturday right after the Christmas Carnival we visited the Ami Tsunami children’s foundation. We bought each student at the orphanage a happy meal from Mc Donald’s. This was a first for all the children there. It was truly heart-warming to have been there to witness their first reactions. The smiles on their faces once they got their toys was priceless. Furthermore, we donated we donated 10,000 rupees to the orphanage from which Ms. Alison Wijemane bought the children food from KFC for Christmas. On the 24th of December, the day right after school closed for Christmas, our interactors visited an old peoples home in Maradana, and sang carols with them. They weren’t concerned about what we had brought them. All they wanted was for us to stay for longer and sing more carols with them.

This year we had our annual Valentine’s Day Project, where we deliver roses to students and teachers in school. This year we sold 625 roses, beating last year’s record by a solid 225 roses. We also had a Valentine’s Day themed bake sale on the same day. Here, we made Rs 38,010. This term we will be visiting a school in Matara; one which is in its initial stages of development and is seeking help.
