Another very busy weekend was had once again for many students in the Senior School! With a team competing in the TISSL Scrabble Competition as well as a very special opportunity for members of our Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Programme to meet Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex at the British Council as Prince Edward recognised the particular success of students in Sri Lanka who participate in this challenging award. I must also that Ms Shamistha and our dancers who continued to develop the many exciting dance that will make this year’s Senior School production, ‘Anything Goes’ a success.
Monday morning saw the much anticipated launch of the Senior School’s annual Science Week, organised by the Science Department and heralds a range of classroom based activities as well as other learning, general knowledge and experimental activities that will be taking place throughout each day. It is always a pleasure to see our Scientists from all Key Stages demonstrate their passion for and understanding of this ever-evolving field. I am most grateful to our Science Department for allowing our students another wonderful opportunity to build on their classroom and laboratory learning!
On Wednesday afternoon, our focus turned one again, to the next academic year with the arrival of the Sixth Form Information Evening and A Level Options Fair. It was a pleasure to welcome many parents to this event as it is an important start of what will be an on-going and structured programme of support for our students as the look toward creating their A Level pathway following their IGCSE Examinations. I remind all parents and students that my team and I would be delighted to help you in any way if you have any questions or concerns at any time throughout the options process. Please do not hesitate to contact us.
As I write, the reports for all students in Years 11 and 13 who completed the recent Mock Examinations are being completed. These will be available via the Parent Portal by the end of school on Wednesday 14th February 2018. The reports will be supported by the termly Parent-Teacher Conferences (for all Senior School students) later in the term.
I hope you enjoy this edition of The Lion. Have a wonderful weekend.
With best wishes,
Simon Harwood
Deputy Principal (Head of Senior School)
