Junior School Anti-Bullying Week

General Junior

Anti-bullying week started with a fantastic KS1 assembly led by Miss Sarah. The children heard a story and discussed the importance of friendship, kindness and respect. There was also a KS2 assembly on the Friday which was hosted by 5D. Here, Avika from 6B shares her thoughts on this assembly.

The Year 5s were amazing! They did well and conveyed the message very clearly for everyone in the audience. The message was to make people aware of bullying and what it is, also for making sure no bullying is happening around you. The message was also important since children get bullied all around the world and decide not to tell a teacher/parent because they're scared of what will happen to them. The important message here was to speak up and make a noise!

The message of bullying is an important one and here Kimaaya in 6D explains what bullying is and how you should respond.

Bullying is when someone constantly hurts another person: verbally, physically and mentally. It is not a very nice thing to do and can lead to depression or worse. The best way you can help if you are being bullied is to tell a teacher and they will make it better for you. You will certainly feel much better when you have told someone about your problem, if you are not being bullied but you see your friends being bullied the best thing to do is tell a teacher but if no one is there you can stand up for them and help them. Bullies often want to cause attention to get friends, but if you do become friends, make sure to tell them that bullying is not good and can create severe problems. It is always important to make a noise!

To finish the week, we had our Odd Socks Day. Here, Saniya in 6C shares the reasons why we wear our odd socks to raise awareness about bullying.

Have you ever wondered what Odd Socks Day is and why it is so special? Odd Socks Day serves as a reminder that, just like our socks, our unique qualities make our school community stronger and more vibrant. Let us continue embracing our individuality and working together to make our school an inclusive and welcoming place for everyone where each individual is unique in their own way.

Every year, our school celebrates the whimsical and wonderfully unique Odd Socks Day, a day where students proudly wear mismatched socks to promote diversity, individuality, and the importance of embracing our differences. This year was no exception, as the halls were filled with a vibrant array of colours, patterns, and, of course, odd socks.  The essence of Odd Socks Day goes beyond the fun sock combinations; it is about fostering inclusivity, celebrating our differences, and taking a stand against bullying. Through our collective efforts, we not only raised funds but also created a memorable day filled with laughter and a sense of unity.
